On Monday last week we welcomed Ioanna Nixon to our virtual coffee morning. Dr Ioanna Nixon is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Head and Neck Sarcoma at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. She told us about the book she produced with her son to help to explain the current pandemic to children – Jack Wee Rabbit is Scared of Coronavirus. The book is illustrated by George, Ioanna’s son, and has been translated into nine languages. You can find further details and a digital copy of the book free here: https://jackndrbetty.com.

Ioanna talked about a follow up book she was working on with George to help to alleviate boredom for children under lockdown. You can find details of this free book and download a Kindle version here.

Ioanna’s talk also covered resilience in general and she has shared a couple of blog posts that may be useful at the moment:

And one final link that Ioanna felt might be inspirational to many at the moment, the story of a cancer survivor and his tapestry depicting the clinical side of treatment and the human side of treatment: https://www.eastlothiancourier.com/news/17538033.cockenzie-artist-who-beat-cancer-telling-its-story-through-tapestry/.
